A Long Life, or a Healthy and Meaningful One?
Is longevity really just the question “how long?” A short piece on laying the foundations of a healthy life in your thirties, and aging as yourself, with your wisdom, instead of racing to look young.

When we hear the word longevity, the question that usually comes to mind is “how long can I live?” For me, though, what really matters is how healthy, how meaningful, and how fully yourself that journey is lived.
I believe the foundations of a healthy long life should be laid from our thirties onward, because those are the years when our awareness and our sense of responsibility rise. Of course we can begin younger, but this decade offers a wonderful opportunity to build lasting routines.
Let me say this plainly: longevity should not be a race to look young. Why should a 40-year-old try to look 20? The traces of a life lived, of a spirit full of wisdom, are precious too. Yes, let’s be more vigorous, healthier, more energetic, but as we age, let’s also give wisdom its due. Even if our genetic inheritance brings certain illnesses, by making peace with them and shaping our routines accordingly, we can build a more resilient, sturdier body.
In the end, the aim of a long life is not merely more years; it is to live those years more healthily, more meaningfully, and, most of all, as ourselves.
